The tunnel is now open and traffic is flowing, D.C. police said.

D.C. police closed down an entrance to the Third Street Tunnel on Tuesday after a car fire.

As of 5 p.m., authorities said the fire is out, there were no injuries and two lanes are open in the tunnel. The southbound entrance, however, remains blocked.

The fire started around 4:30 p.m. and shuttered the tunnel entrance at 4th Street and New York Avenue NW.

Traffic is being diverted; no one was injured in the accident.
