Just in time for Surge 6, the District is finally getting in on the action with UberPOOL deep discounts.

After Boston and New York residents were offered special deals on summer rides that were significantly cheaper than the usual rate of daily trips with the rideshare company, Uber announced this week that it is offering a similar deal to D.C. and Virginia users: A $30 “Zone Pass” that will allow people to take 20 trips for a dollar apiece through the end of August.

All the trips must begin and end in an area that includes all of the District and parts of Alexandria and Arlington that include Reagan National Airport. (Here’s the map.) Pass owners will be exempt from surge prices.

The big catch? None of those rides can exceed $25 for the non-discounted fare.

Uber says it plans to sell up to 2,500 of the passes in the District. Passes must be purchased before noon on July 30.
