A group demonstrating to raise awareness of racial profiling is disrupting traffic at the busy intersection of 14th and U streets in Northwest Washington, according to police and social media.
A group called API Resistance posted photos showing lines of people blocking the roads in the area about 2 p.m. Sunday. The organization said the protest is to call attention to discrimination that still exists against Asians and Muslims 15 years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
District police said they were aware of the demonstration, but didn’t have details about how long the protest would last and how long traffic would be disrupted.
