Instead of up, the itsy bitsy spider climbed down this time.  And creeped a driver out.

Or so it went in Hillsboro, Ore., where authorities said a driver crashed after an incident with an arachnid.

Officials said a spider dropped down from a mirror, causing the driver to crash and the vehicle to flip. The driver was not injured, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

It’s not the first time a spider has caused such a scare.

In Indiana last fall, a mother jumped from a moving vehicle and left her 9-year-old son inside when a spider crawled on her shoulder in the driver’s seat. The little boy climbed into the driver’s seat and tried to stop the vehicle, but instead of hitting the brake, he hit the accelerator and the vehicle crashed into a school bus. No schoolchildren were on the bus at the time and the bus driver was not injured.

A spokesman for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department had said the woman had “complete fear of the spider.”

“She was responding to the fear of the spider and, unfortunately, had [the car] in gear.”
