Judiciary Square Metro entrance to close ahead of dinner headlined by President Trump

Update (12:50 p.m.):

Metro says there’s been a change of plans and the station entrance has reopened for the time being. Judiciary Square’s F Street entrance will remain open until about 6 p.m. and then close until about 8:30 p.m., Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said.

The station entrance had originally been scheduled to close from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. Stessel said the U.S. Secret Service was responsible for the change.

It was not immediately clear why the plan was altered.

One entrance to Judiciary Square Metro station will close Tuesday ahead of a fundraising dinner headlined by President Trump.

Metro said in a tweet that the U.S. Secret Service requested the station’s F Street entrance be closed from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the event at the National Building Museum. The National Republican Congressional Committee said on its website its fundraising dinner, headlined by Trump, is set to take place there tonight.

The National Police Memorial, adjacent the station entrance, also will be closed for the day. Passengers using Judiciary Square are asked to enter the station on the Fourth Street side, near Fourth Street and Indiana Avenue NW. Those who need elevator service should use Gallery Place, the agency added.

A spokesman for the building museum said it is closed all day for the event.
