The Purple Line remains stalled in a federal lawsuit and construction funding is uncertain, but project officials are moving ahead to choose artwork for the 21 light-rail stations.

The art, which is common for newer rail projects, is designed to make the stations unique and reflect the character of their surrounding communities. The budget for artwork for the 16-mile line between Montgomery and Prince George’s counties is $6 million of the project’s $2-billion construction budget.
