Service is suspended on a portion of Metro’s Red Line due to a report of an arcing insulator, the agency said Monday afternoon.

The suspension is from Friendship Heights to Grosvenor-Strathmore stations.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said there was a report of fire on the tracks north of Medical Center. The station was evacuated as a precaution, he said.

It was not immediately known when service would be restored.

This is a developing story.
