Maryland State Police will begin issuing citations Monday for those traveling more than 12 mph or more above the posted 55 mph speed limit along the Capital Beltway near Suitland Road in Maryland.

Traveling 67 mph or more through the work zone will result in a $40 fine.

The State Highway Administration installed speed cameras along the north and southbound lanes of Interstate 495 in Prince George’s County 21 days ago, warning motorists about the potential fines they could incur speeding through the work zone.

Authorities erected signs and posted orange reflectors along the stretch of highway near the Suitland Road bridge in Prince George’s County where roadwork will begin.
