The shutdown of part of Metro’s Red Line for repairs is creating headaches Monday morning for some commuters, with long lines reported for shuttle buses at the Silver Spring stop.

The lines stretched for several blocks.

Metro has a major repair project underway on the busy Red Line. The work, which was publicized in recent weeks, started Saturday and is scheduled to end Dec. 10.

No Red Line trains are running between the Silver Spring and Fort Totten stops during that period, and the Takoma station is closed. Metro is providing shuttle bus service at the closed parts of the line.
