A 28-year-old man died Wednesday morning after his pickup truck crashed into another pickup along Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill, officials said. The crash prompted police to close part of Georgia Avenue during the morning rush hour.

Montgomery County police said Mario Adalberto Montoya Flores of Gaithersburg died after the two pickups collided just before 2 a.m. at Georgia and Hewitt avenues. Police said that Flores was driving a 2007 Nissan Frontier north on Georgia Avenue and struck a 2017 Toyota Tacoma that was making a left onto southbound Georgia Avenue. It was not clear what caused the Nissan to hit the other truck, police said.

Police said Flores and the driver of the other pickup were taken to a hospital, where Flores died. The driver of the Toyota suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Part of the road was closed for several hours, and all lanes of the road reopened just after 9 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
