A WMATA spokesman said the agency was investigating the report of a cracked rail, but crews were not yet on the scene.
On the Silver Line, trains were operating between Wiehle-Reston East and Clarendon only to reduce congestion, according to a tweet from WMATA, and commuters should use Blue and Orange Line trains to continue their trips.

The Blue and Orange lines were single-tracking in part of downtown Washington during Wednesday’s rush because of a track problem, authorities said.
At around 4:10 p.m., Metro tweeted that the Blue and Orange lines were single-tracking between Smithsonian and McPherson Square, and that there were delays in both directions.
Silver Line trains are operating only between the Clarendon and Wiehle-Reston East stations.
