San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, who suffered a concussion last week, will not play in tonight’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Smith had been cleared for non-contact drills last week and reports over the weekend indicated that Smith expected to play, but ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that he could not pass the final impact test given by a neurologist. Colin Kaepernick will start in Smith’s place.

Seems only fair, since the Bears won’t have their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler, either. Cutler suffered a concussion last week and the Bears announced Friday that Jason Campbell would start in Cutler’s place.
