The Dallas Cowboys are the latest NFL team to give Anthony Armstrong a shot this season, signing the wide receiver this morning.

Armstrong, who was cut by the Washington Redskins in training camp, played for the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars this season. He worked out for the Cowboys last Wednesday, the day before they lost to the Redskins. The Cowboys could use help at receiver, with Miles Austin suffering a hip strain Thursday and Kevin Ogletree missing the game with a concussion.

Armstrong, who is from Carrollton, Texas, played for the Dallas Arena League team. He was cut by the Jaguars on Nov. 12.

In another move today, the Cowboys placed linebacker Bruce Carter on the season-ending injured-reserve list. Carter dislocated his left elbow in the Cowboys’ loss to the Redskins on Thanksgiving.
