Knicks assist, Michael Bloomberg?

San Antonio Spurs forward Stephen Jackson hobbled off the Madison Square Garden court after spraining his ankle when he tripped over a waitress who was kneeling by the courtside seat containing the billionaire mayor of New York City on Thursday night.

The incident occurred when Jackson put up an errant three-point attempt in the game against the New York Knicks and, after briefly making contact with Amar’e Stoudamire, moved backwards and out of bounds, stepping on the waitress. It was not clear whether she was taking Hizzoner’s order, but he was munching popcorn shortly afterward.

The Spurs’ guard was finished for the night and so were the Spurs. The Knicks rolled, 100-83, and ended San Antonio’s winning streak at seven games.

If this sounds familar, the same thing happened to Larry David in an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Sitting courtside at a Lakers game, he tripped Shaquille O’Neal. (Watch a clip, rated two earmuffs for profanity, here. )
