After a little vacation that probably wasn’t as restful as he’d hoped, what with the news of his tattoo and all, Rex Ryan will belatedly discuss the 2012 season with the media this morning.

Already, it’s been a newsy day at Florham Park. Offensive coordinator Tony Sparano was fired Monday night, ESPN reported. Earlier Monday, the team dumped quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh after a chaotic season riding herd on the oddball triumvirate of Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy.

Ryan now will hire his third offensive coordinator in three years and the names atop their list, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports, are Norv Turner, fired last week as coach of the San Diego Chargers, and Cam Cameron, fired midseason by the Baltimore Ravens. It seems unlikely that the Jets would pay Turner or that he’d be interested in the gig, but it’s undeniable that Sanchez regressed horribly under Sparano, who had little experience working with QBs.

The Jets began the firings by dismissing general manager Mike Tannenbaum the day after their 6-10 season ended.
