Jamaal Franklin scored and, technically, Jamaal Franklin should have gotten an assist on the play.

On a fast break, Franklin, the Mountain West player of the year, caught his pass off the backboard for a smooth dunk in San Diego State’s 65-62 victory over Fresno State on Wednesday night. He finished with 20 points and had a simple explanation for his stellar dunk.

“That was just me being myself,” Franklin, a 6-5 junior guard, said. “A lot of players won’t do that, but I’m real thankful my teammates have confidence in me.”
