Ben Roethlisberger may be the next Super Bowl-winning quarterback to rework his contract.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Roethlisberger’s reps could have an agreement on a renegotiated — not extended — contract by the end of the week, the NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported.
Roethlisberger will carry a big salary-cap hit of $19.595 million in 2013, with the cap expected to be in the $122-million range. The Steelers, according to Breer, have 10 players who are drawing just over $100 million in cap space.
On Monday, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots agreed to a contract extension that frees up space under the cap for the team and gives Brady nearly $57 million guaranteed for injury.
