Most basketball players enter the arena with Beats by Dre or warmups on. On Thursday night, before Akron’s matchup against VCU, Akron’s Pat Forsythe reportedly walked into the Palace of Auburn Hills with an IV bag.

Forsythe and Brian Walsh were stricken with a “severe” case of the flu, according to TNT’s Rachel Nichols. Both players began the contest on the bench but in uniform.

Meantime, freshman guard Deji Ibitayo is out due to back spasms, further depleting the 12th-seeded Zips, who suspended starting guard Alex Abreu a few weeks ago after he was arrested on drug trafficking and possession of marijuana charges.
