NCAA Tournament 2013: Butler beats Bucknell to keep dancing

Butler had to stop a surge from 11th-seeded Bucknell led by a guy who looks a bit like a lumberjack, but the sixth-seeded Bulldogs held on for a 68-56 win. They improve to 12-4 in tournament games under Coach Brad Stevens and busted at least a few brackets of those who envisioned Mike Muscala leading a deep run by the Patriot League champs.

Arkansas transfer Rotnei Clark led the way in the second half, finishing with a team-high 17 points. After the Bison surged back from a 14-point first half to lead by six, Clarke hit two important three-pointers. The first put Butler back in front and the second effectively iced the victory with 1:42 left, prompting a priceless reaction from the Bulldogs reserves.

Indeed, the multiple-time Cinderella will dance into the second round again after a one-year hiatus from the tournament. The last two times Butler has made the field it advanced to the national championship game, a boon for the basketball program and university alike. The Bulldogs will play the winner of Marquette-Davidson on Saturday at Rupp Arena.
