“Sometimes, you have a coming-out party as a freshman.”

Sure, that’ll suffice. Redshirt forward Shaquille Thomas basically exploded Twitter — and the CBS broadcast booth — for a few seconds with this vicious put-back dunk in Friday’s first-round matchup against Creighton.

Thomas is the son of former NBA player Tim Thomas, and his sister, Essence Carson, plays in the WNBA. Shaquille’s old man threw down a few in his day, but this might top them all.

Thomas entered the NCAA tournament averaging just 10.4 minutes and 2.8 points per game for the Bearcats this season, but certainly announced his presence by posterizing Creighton’s Grant Gibbs. The Blue Jays, however, withstood a late barrage and held on to advance, 67-63.
