Of course, all regular-season bets were off in the alternate reality universe of Philadelphia, where the high-flying Eagles turned the Wells Fargo Center into an arcade game. Alley-oops broke Twitter and had the crowd, partially filled with Creighton and Duke fans awaiting the nightcap, standing in appreciation of history.
They also did the chicken dance. Because when you’re Florida Gulf Coast, you can dance like chickens too.
The Eagles, still the only undefeated team in NCAA tournament history, now get No. 3 Florida in the next round. (Florida, meanwhile, has the interesting distinction of playing two No. 15 seeds in consecutive years without ever being a No. 2 seed itself).
So maybe FGCU’s run will end in Dallas. Maybe Coach Andy Enfield‘s bunch will keep making history. But it’s best not to think about these things. Because for now, Florida Gulf Coast is still Cinderella, and midnight won’t come for some time.
Update: They celebrate like bosses too.
