A knee injury has sidelined Georgetown forward Greg Whittington and could force him to miss a significant amount of time, ESPN reports.

The extent of the injury and exactly how much time Whittington will miss are not yet clear. Whittington, a 6-8 sophomore, was hurt a little over a week ago, Jeff Goodman reports. Casual Hoya.com also reported the injury.

“They still aren’t completely sure,” an unnamed source told Goodman. “He could still come back. They are going to have it looked at again soon.”

A source confirmed the injury to CBS Sports, saying: “Yes, he injured it, but they’re not sure how bad. But he is injured.”

Whittington, who was declared academically ineligible after playing in 13 games last season was expected to return this season and help a team that will lose Otto Porter Jr. to the NBA draft. Whittington missed the final 19 games as the Hoyas went 25-9, losing to NCAA darling Florida Gulf Coast in the NCAA tournament.
