Vince Young is, for now, back in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers signed Young to a one-year contract after inviting him for a workout Monday.

Young, who was cut by the Buffalo Bills in training camp last year, has been away from the league for a year. He spent the bulk of his career with the Tennessee Titans and made a stop with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Young is expected to compete with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman for the job of backing up Aaron Rodgers.

Young may also give the Packers a look at a mobile quarterback, with Green Bay opening with games against Colin Kaepernick’s San Francisco 49ers and Robert Griffin III’s Washington Redskins.

Young attended the quarterbacks’ meeting Monday night and was on the field for practice this morning.
