Dashon Goldson may face suspension by NFL, report says

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson may be facing a suspension after his latest helmet-to-helmet hit.

Goldson flattened Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Jaron Brown on Sunday and, this time, the NFL may not back down from punishment, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Only two weeks ago, Goldson’s one-game suspension for a hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles was overturned on appeal by the league. Goldson was, however, fined $100,000.

This time, the league may not be so forgiving of Goldson, who was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the Brown hit. Although it was less punishing than the blast on Sproles, Goldson has quite a history. He’s been penalized for 16 personal fouls since 2009. Only two weeks ago, he said he had to play smarter.

“I know there are going to be a lot of eyes on me from now on. And that’s okay. I just have to be smart,” Goldson said. “I’m not trying to hurt my team and I’m definitely not trying to hurt myself with the way I play.”
