Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall was aware of the consequences of his decision to wear bright green cleats last Thursday to promote Mental Health Awareness Week.
This morning, he revealed just how much the NFL was going to fine him for failing to comply with its uniform rules: He tweeted a photo of the league’s letter informing him that he was out $10,500. According to the NFL fine schedule, that’s the amount designated for a second offense.
Football is my platform not my purpose. This fine is nothing compared to the conversation started & awareness raised. pic.twitter.com/P9GNygFpH9

“This fine,” he also tweeted, “is nothing compared to the conversation that was started and the awareness raised. Great job ….”
Marshall announced in 2011 that he has borderline personality disorder.
