Update: Wayne out for the season

There wasn’t much that Andrew Luck did wrong in the Indianapolis Colts’ victory Sunday night over the Denver Broncos, but one mistake may prove very costly.

Wide receiver Reggie Wayne twisted his knee as he lunged for a pass during the fourth quarter and the team believes he may have torn his anterior cruciate ligament, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports. Wayne is expected to have an MRI today.

“It was my fault,” Luck said. “Terrible throw. We know he’s a fighter. We’re hoping for the best.”

Wayne, 34, is Luck’s leading receiver with 38 receptions for 503 yards and two touchdowns. He hasn’t missed a game since 2001, his rookie season, and if he’s out, the team may look to make a trade ahead of the Oct. 29 deadline.
