St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was lost for the rest of the season to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, the team announced today.

Bradford, who was hurt when he landed awkwardly on a fourth-quarter scramble in the Rams’ loss to Carolina, will undergo surgery in the new few weeks, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Bradford, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft, completed 159 of 262 passes for 1,687 yards, 14 touchdowns and a 90.9 passer rating.

The injury leaves the Rams scrambling at quarterback, with only Kellen Clemens on the roster, and they’re likely to look make a roster move this week. There was an initial report Sunday night that the team had discussed Tim Tebow, but the report also indicated that the possibility is highly unlikely.
