Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard delivered what may well be the best touchdown run of the NFL season in a game in which the team lost its defensive player Thursday night.
Bernard took a toss from quarterback Andy Dalton and with the Bengals trailing 17-10 in the fourth quarter, took off on a 16-second TD scamper that went about 35 yards vertically and 30 horizontally (ESPN has it at just under 102 yards total), created at least four badly missed tackles and ended up with a somersault into the end zone.
Bernard scored twice in the game, but the Bengals fell 22-20 to the tackle-averse Miami Dolphins in overtime. On a safety when Dalton was tackled in the end zone.

Bernard missed the end of the game with bruises ribs but is expected to be okay.
The news isn’t likely to be as good on defensive tackle Geno Atkins, who is believed to have torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
