Rob Gronkowski carted off

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was carted off the field after suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury on a low hit.

Gronkowski was going for the end zone when T.J. Ward hit him just above the knee in a move that, while legal, is going to renew the debate over whether players would rather be hit high, as high as the head, or take a blow to the legs.

The hit was clean but drew the wrath of Coach Bill Belichick.

The play also shows why players hate the NFL’s mandate not to go for the head.
