At least three people were stabbed when a big fight broke out in the parking lot at Sports Authority Field at Mile High after the San Diego Chargers’ victory over the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
One victim was in critical condition, two were stable at a Denver hospital and there may be a fourth victim, according to Denver police spokesman Sgt. Steve Warneke. All were “conscious and talking,” Warneke said, and the fight appeared to stem from a disagreement over a parking spot. Three suspects were in custody immediately after the incident, which occurred around 9:55 p.m. MST — about 30 minutes after the Bronco lost 27-20 to their AFC West rivals. Two were released and one man was being held for investigation of three counts of aggravated assault.
Violent incidents at sports events have been increasing over the last couple of years and less than two weeks ago one occurred after another AFC West game involving the Broncos in Kansas City. The death of a man Dec. 1 in an Arrowhead Stadium parking lot remains under investigation and has been ruled a homicide.
