As if Seattle’s CenturyLink Field weren’t inhospitable enough for visitors, it’s about to get worse.
The Seahawks will not be selling tickets for the NFC championship game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers to anyone using a billing address in California, the team announced Sunday. Tickets go on sale on the team’s website Monday and will be sold only to fans with billing addresses in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, British Columbia and Alberta.
Fans outside those areas — hello, Golden Staters — will have to go through secondary ticket markets.
The Seahawks-49ers rivalry is intense, taking its cues from the frosty relationship between Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll. It’s so intense, in fact, that earlier this season the Seahawks, like some other teams, used undercover cops dressed as 49ers fans to patrol CenturyLink looking for unruly fans.
