Among the thousands of people who were trapped in cars for hours and hours in the Atlanta snow and ice storm was Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman, who was trying to get to the airport after a recruiting trip to Kennesaw, Ga.

The photos are horrific, the stories are frightening. Herman’s tale of his nearly 19 hours on Interstate 285, told on Twitter, is good-humored but still harrowing.

Thirteen hours in, abandoning his car and walking seemed like a good idea.

Nineteen hours in, it was time to walk.

Herman got on a 9 a.m. flight, but hadn’t forgotten about the mess he was leaving behind in Atlanta.
