Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get new helmet, logo

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be unrecognizable next season.

Thankfully, there’ll be a familiar face on the sideline in Lovie Smith, their new coach.

The Bucs, for the first time since 1997, are updating their pirate-y helmet and logo. They’ll introduce the new look in an NFL Network show at 8 p.m. Thursday, because it’s mid-February and what else is the NFL Network going to show? Warren Sapp will do the honors, which makes it almost (almost) must-see TV.

Sapp offered one hint about the new look:

A new, more aggressive logo (and Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly…) worked for the Carolina Panthers two years ago. Maybe it’ll help the Bucs.
