The NFL salary cap is going to be higher than expected, according to an ESPN report.

Preliminary estimates had the cap falling at about $126.3 million, but now it’s more likely to be $130 million per team, Adam Schefter reports. The official cap figure is often higher than projections and the extra room is particularly welcome for teams that are “cap-strapped,” like the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. The San Diego Chargers, Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers  also were over the $126.3 million figure.

Teams have until March 11, when free agency begins, to get under the cap, so there will be a flurry of player cuts. Last year’s cap was $123 million.
