CBS will add another former player to its “NFL Today” broadcasts in the fall and this one is no stranger to the succinct sound bite.

Bart Scott, the former Baltimore Ravens and New York jets linebacker, will join former tight end Tony Gonzalez on the show and move up from the CBS Sports Network’s The Other Pregame Show, on which he has spent the last two years.

Three years ago, Scott became an internet sensation for an adrenaline-fueled postgame interview a la Richard Sherman in which he hollered, among other things, “Anybody can be beat!” “They can’t stop a nosebleed!” He delivered the classic “Can’t wait” about his eagnerness to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC title game.

“Bart joining The NFL Today is a natural progression from his outstanding work during his first season on TOPS,” said CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said in a statement released by the network. “Bart brings a dynamic personality and unique perspective as a recently retired player providing strong opinions on all the hot-button issues on a weekly basis. We are confident he will continue to bring that perspective and those opinions to The NFL Today.”

Scott and Gonzalez will join James Brown, Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher and Jason La Canfora. Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe, it was announced last week, are out.

After spending most of her career in traditional print sports journalism, Cindy began blogging and tweeting, first as NFL/Redskins editor, and, since August 2010, at The Early Lead. She also is the social media editor for Sports.
