Two days, two alligator incidents in sports news. If there’s a third, #alligators should officially start trending on Twitter.

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett is doing his part to make #alligators happen. On Monday, Dockett posted a photo to Instagram of what he’s calling his latest pet — a baby gator named “Honey,” noting he “just paid cash for her.” He did not say how much.

On Tuesday, Dockett posted another, presumably of the same gator. But either he wore the same thing two days in a row, or it’s a #latergram.

But is Honey really Dockett’s pet? Bleacher Report has its doubts, which the site laid bare by chronicling Dockett’s past unconfirmed pet claims, including another alligator, a tiger and a failed attempt to purchase a $30,000 monkey. Dockett could end the speculation if he gathered his whole zoo together for a family portrait. We’ll be monitoring Instagram closely and keep you updated on this very important news.

In other sports alligator moments, at least there are no doubts that Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter put his lips to the snout of this alligator.

Don’t worry, it’s not as sordid as it looks. Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander dared Hunter, who’s afraid of gators, to smooch the reptile. And luckily for Hunter, Verlander didn’t play the old triple-dog dare card and make him do it without the alligator’s jaws taped shut.
