The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers will kick off the baseball season with two games down under this weekend.

They’ll play at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia and the conversion of the field was mesmerizing.

These games are the first regular-season games in Australia. Previously, season openers have been held in Monterrey, Mexico (1999), San Juan, Puerto Rico (2001) and in Tokyo (four times, most recently in 2012).

After spending most of her career in traditional print sports journalism, Cindy began blogging and tweeting, first as NFL/Redskins editor, and, since August 2010, at The Early Lead. She also is the social media editor for Sports.
