Stephen Colbert isn’t canceled, he’s promoted to replace David Letterman

So much for the “Cancel Colbert” movement.

Stephen Colbert is, in fact, getting a promotion.

The Comedy Central talk show host has been tabbed by CBS to replace David Letterman, who announced recently that he will retire.

In case you missed it, Colbert, as is his wont, satirized the Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation earlier this month and offended a large number of Users of the Internet with a tweet that wasn’t even from him about his fictitious (which means “not real”) Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation For Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever. It mushroomed into a real big deal in which Colbert successfully took on the Hashtag Activists and everyone was able to laugh again.

After spending most of her career in traditional print sports journalism, Cindy began blogging and tweeting, first as NFL/Redskins editor, and, since August 2010, at The Early Lead. She also is the social media editor for Sports.
