The NFL is changing the TV schedule for the playoffs next January, with NBC and ESPN getting games.
For the first time since it acquired the “Sunday Night Football” package in 2006, NBC will televise a divisional-round game, the network announced Tuesday. NBC, which will carry Super Bowl XLIX, also will televise a wild-card game on the weekend of Jan. 3, 2015. NBC carried two wild-card games in 2013 and was granted the right to broadcast one divisional-round playoff game from the 2014 season through the 2022 season.
ESPN will carry a wild-card game, the first NFL postseason game in its history. The game will, the cable network announced, be simulcast on over-the-air stations in the participating teams’ primary markets.
