Jets quarterback Michael Vick revealed his new number on Instagram today. Say hello to “MV8,” as he referred to himself on the social media photo-sharing site, before he deleted the post. Luckily, ESPN screen captured it and tweeted it out:

Jets officials have yet to confirm Vick’s announcement, which may be why it was ultimately deleted. The Instagram came just a day after Vick tweeted for “#HELP” about whether to turn in No. 7, which he wore for the first 12 years of his NFL career, for No. 3 or 8.

While hundreds of fans weighed in, TMZ claims Vick purportedly opted for No. 8 to honor ex-QB  Steve Young, who won a Super Bowl XXIX in 1995 with the San Francisco 49s. TMZ writes:

“Our sources tell us … Young was a HUGE factor in the number selection because Vick has always looked up to Steve … He’s one of Mike’s favorite players of all time. Also, he’s a lefty, too.”
