Minnesota Wild fans taunt the Avalanche’s Semyon Varlamov with old arrest photos

Minnesota’s got a nice Midwestern reputation. If you’re sick, you betcha a neighbor will surely come along with some “hot dish” and “jello salad” to cheer you up. Which is why it comes as a bit of a surprise that a couple of Wild fans got nasty and heckled Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov with old arrest photos Monday night.

The photos show Varlamov’s mugshot and subsequent court appearance, where he’s dressed in a lovely golden-hued prison jumpsuit, from last fall. He was arrested in October on domestic violence charges, which the prosecution ultimately dropped in December. Varlamov’s brush with the law may have passed, but the images of the ordeal will clearly live forever.

According to Yardbarker, however, the 26-year-old Russian didn’t seem to be too outwardly bothered. But who knows. The Avalanche lost 2-5 so maybe he was indeed crying on the inside. Uff da.

The two teams will meet for the seventh game in their playoff series in Colorado on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.
