One of the most iconic links in the world now belongs to Donald Trump. The American real estate mogul purchased Scotland’s Turnberry Golf Resort from Leisurecorp, a subsidiary of the Dubai government, for roughly $63 million in cash, The Telegraph reports.

The resort’s Alisa Course has hosted four British Opens, seven Senior British Opens and one Women’s British Open, and it’s set to get another British open in the next few years, meaning Trump will finally fulfill his ambition to host a major title, reports, adding he has no plans to revamp the course in any way. Trump told the Web site:

“Some of the greatest championships in the history of golf have taken place at Turnberry. And the golf course itself is considered one of the greatest in the world. Some rate it as the best in the world. I’m not going to touch a thing unless the Royal and Ancient [golf’s governing body in Scotland] ask for it or approve it. … I won’t do anything to the golf course at all without their full stamp of approval.”

As far as the resort’s hotel and name is concerned, though, Trump is already making plans. He told

“This is a fabulous property in a great location. We’re going to bring a new level of luxury to the hotel. Our aim is to make it the finest golf hotel in the world. ‘Trump Turnberry’ has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

On social media, The Donald has been mum about the purchase, but his son isn’t hiding his excitement. But who wouldn’t be? That picture is pretty gorgeous.
