Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova had some fun riding in a nearly million-dollar Porsche before winning her third straight Porsche Grand Prix title on Sunday.

Sharapova, who recently became a brand ambassador for Porsche, took a joyride with Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber in a Porsche 918 Spyder the day before the finals.

“It was very exciting for me. You feel like you’re in a real sports car,” said the 27-year-old Sharapova, who also won a white 911 S Cabriolet for winning the Stuttgart, Germany tournament.

Sharapova was in the passenger seat with Webber behind the wheel as they briefly took the streets of Germany. Webber is no stranger to tennis and is friends with Australian Grand Slam champions Lleyton Hewitt and Pat Rafter.

“I grew up playing tennis as a young boy in Australia. It’s quite a popular sport in Australia,” he said. “I have a little tennis court at home, so I enjoy playing tennis a lot. It’s a great sport.”

Sharapova seemed a little nervous at times, reaching up to grab the top of the car, but appeared relaxed by the end of the ride.

“It’s a little above my price range,” she said with a laugh about the $845,000 Porsche. “But it’s a sweet car.”
