Just in time for Game 6 tonight against the Indiana Pacers, the Atlanta Hawks revamped a bygone logo to look a little more fierce and are using it as a rallying cry as the team aims to cement a spot in second round, where they’d face the Washington Wizards.
“It’s Pac-Man – Version 2.0,” writes Chris Vivlamore on AJC.com. He goes on:
“The Pac-Man logo, used from 1972-95 and associated with some of the best seasons in franchise history, has been redesigned. It features a more pronounced hook of the beak and a new eye. The Hawks have had two secondary logos since the Pac-Man version, including the current one that has been used since 2007.”
Here are the two compared side-by-side.
To spread the word that #PACisBACK, the team is giving away T-shirts featuring the new logo to fans who attend tonight’s game. Those unable to attend can get their hands on new-logo’d swag on the Hawks official Web site.
But don’t worry if you’re not feeling the redesigned Pac. The organization assured its fans that the reissued logo won’t replace the current logo, which features a hawk head-on, coming at you with a basketball in its talons. That gear is also still for sale.
