LeBron on Durant: He’s “got to be a free agent at some point”

After Kevin Durant put an end to that whole unfortunate “Mr. Unreliable” headline choice with a 36-point performance that forced Game 7, he was greeted with a billboard upon the team’s return to Oklahoma City.

Because he’s Kevin Durant, he took it well. But, to the south and east, another NBA player weighed in with the best comment of all on the presumptive MVP.

“I don’t think that was a great idea,” James said (via ESPN) of the headline. “Not your hometown paper. Not with a team you helped to get to the NBA Finals, [and will] potentially be an MVP, a multiple scoring champ and have led his team to a place it’s never been before.”

All of which is true. And then King James dropped a bomb that he joked would end up making headlines:

“K.D.’s got to be a free agent at some point.”

Just because James was trolling “SportsCenter” doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
