Need a Mother’s Day gift idea? You can take a cue from former Louisville quarterback and NFL hopeful Teddy Bridgewater, who got his mom a big honkin’ pink Cadillac Escalade for her birthday. Cadillac made the presentation of the gift into a mini-movie called “A #Promise2Rose” with the help of director Spike Lee.

“When I was 9-years-old, my mom and I, we were riding home from football practice. … I just saw and Escalade riding by and I told her, ‘Mom, when I make it to the NFL, I’m going to buy you a pink Escalade truck,’ ” Bridgewater said in a video produced by Cadillac, which helped him acquire his dream gift for his mom, Rose Murphy, just a little bit early.

And while pink, at first, might seem a little bit of garish shade, Bridgewater stuck with his 9-year-old self’s wish as a way to support his mom’s breast cancer diagnosis.

“Your fight, your courage, it all stands out to me. And I just thank you for that. Thank you for the many sacrifices that you’ve made for not only me, but for this entire family. I just thank you for being the strong woman that you are, and I love you,” Bridgewater tells his mom in the video.

Mock NFL drafts predict Bridgewater will be picked up in the first or second round of the draft, which starts Thursday.

“It’s been such a pleasure to watch you grow up from a little boy to the man that you are, and to be a man of stature. And just through the years, you not giving up when I was diagnosed. … You hung in there and fought with me,” Bridgewater’s mom said.
