Kevin Love kicked off the first weekend in June pretty well with a nice “vacation,” as Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders called it on Sunday. Love, who many expect to opt out of the final year of his Timberwolves contract to become an unrestricted free agent, spent it being wooed in Boston.

Of the many activities Love partook in, the most prominent  — besides talking about joining the Celtics — was his trip to Fenway Park on Sunday to watch the Boston Red Sox tromp the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-0. Love’s baseball outing wasn’t just for fun, however, he went with his agent and, oh, Celtics star Rajon Rondo also happened to be there. The Boston Globe reports:

“Love sat in the EMC Club and Rondo in the Green Monster seats, but the two eventually crossed paths and chatted. A photo captured the moment and blazed across social media.”

That’s not the only Boston sports love Love got either. Red Sox star David Ortiz also had some kind words for the (soon-to-be-ex?) Minnesota star.

Not so fast, however, says the Timberwolves’ Saunders. AP reporter Jon Krawczynski on Twitter reported on Sunday after a draft workout that Saunders said, “I expect him to be playing for us next year.”

Saunders had a real zinger, however, when asked about whether Celtics fans, such as Ortiz, should calm down about the possibility of Love joining the Celtics’ ranks. Star Tribune basketball reporter Jerry Zgoda tweeted that Flaunders said, “They’re never going to calm down. I think they still think they got Tim Duncan in the draft.”
