When a Minnesota couple’s stalled boat headed for rocks on a choppy Lake Minnetonka, a Viking came to their rescue Monday afternon.

Chad Greenway, the Minnesota Vikings linebacker, spotted Crystal and Edward Alexis, whose new boat was stuck near the spillway of a dam. “We were looking at all the beautiful houses and all of the sudden the steering wheel wouldn’t turn and we were going in circles,” Crystal Alexis told KARE11.com.

Greenway sprung to the rescue. “I just ran down, of course with my two little girls following behind me, trying to stay out of the way, and I figured I’d help them out. It looked like it was dangerous,” he said. He helped push the boat into an inlet, then helped water patrol control the boat.

“The waves are so big and the wind is so strong today that it pushed him right into the rocks, so we had to get him off the rocks, his prop cleared out of the rope, and get him turned in the right direction,” Greenway said.

Greenway, who drove the couple to their car and trailer, made an unfortunate discovery afterward.

“I’m a Chicago Bears fan,” Edward Alexis said. “I’m just going to keep it real.”

Maybe he should have kept that to himself.

“Good thing he told me that after,” Greenway said.
