Nike outdid itself — and many Hollywood films — by making a most excellent mini-movie starring animated versions of some of the best soccer players in the world. Called “The Last Game,” the feature starts when a scientist decides to clone Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, England’s Wayne Rooney, Brazil’s Neymar Jr., David Luiz, and Ronaldo Fenomeno,* Spain’s Andres Iniesta, the USA’s Tim Howard, Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic,* and France’s Franck Ribery* in an attempt to prove that playing soccer with perfect, risk-free players would make the game better.
This move leaves the originals to find other work (Ronaldo, for instance, gets a job as a store mannequin). Eventually, though, the original players rebel, and, well, let’s not spoil it. Let’s just say if you’re not excited about the World Cup after watching this cartoon, then you may as well stop trying.
*These players will not play in the World Cup. Fenomeno is retired, Ibrahimovic
is retired did not qualify with Team Sweden and, sadly, Ribery will be sidelined during the World Cup because of injury.
