‘This one is for all the Bitcoins': St. Petersburg Bowl to be sponsored by virtual currency

Brett McMurphy of ESPN is reporting that Bitcoin, the virtual currency, has been named as the title sponsor of the St. Petersburg Bowl, a real-life college football bowl game.

Naturally, the idea that a college football bowl game — whose sole reason for existence is to make bowl organizers and ESPN lots and lots of money — will actually be sponsored by money generated a fair amount of laughs from the college football Twitterati.

After spending the first 17 years of his Post career writing and editing, Matt and the printed paper had an amicable divorce in 2014. He's now blogging and editing for the Early Lead and the Post's other Web-based products.
